Lua mailing list issues

Archie Cobbs
Hello,

I'm learning about Lua and have just joined this list.

I have a couple of meta-questions about this mailing list...

First, is there any hope of fixing the base64 encoding problem? I'm
trying to brush up on prior discussions and many are unreadable.

=> Example of the problem:
https://listmaster.pepperfish.net/cgi-bin/mailman/private/lua-l-lists.lua.org/2020-January/067966.html
=> Previously mentioned on this mailing list:
http://lua-users.org/lists/lua-l/2018-09/msg00305.html
=> Possible solution?:
https://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users@.../msg69528.html

Secondly, has anyone considered moving this list to Google Groups?

I've participated in Google Groups lists with several software
projects. It works well, and as a bonus it supports HTML. In general
it gives a smoother and more modern experience and has all the same
capabilities as mailman (e.g., you can receive all posts via email,
moderate posts & members, etc).

Thanks,
-Archie

It was thus said that the Great Archie Cobbs once stated:

This page is asking me to log in, and I have no account on pepperfish.net.
Do you see the same issue on lua-users.org?

> Secondly, has anyone considered moving this list to Google Groups?

I don't think it's come up before, and I for one, would not like to see
this list go to Google Groups.  Google has a history of killing off projects
[1].  Also, Google Groups *used* to be their Usenet archive, which I think
they are burying in order to promote their own (in my opinion) inferior
Google Groups offering.

Thanks. On lua-users.org I can view the message.

The pepperfish.net link comes from https://www.lua.org/lua-l.html. Link chain:

1. https://www.lua.org/lua-l.html (see "To post a message to the list,
use the address mentioned on the list page")
2. https://listmaster.pepperfish.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/lua-l-lists.lua.org
(see "To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the
lua-l Archives.")
3. https://listmaster.pepperfish.net/cgi-bin/mailman/private/lua-l-lists.lua.org/

If the archive is best viewed on http://lua-users.org/lists/lua-l/,
then page #2 should be updated to point to
http://lua-users.org/lists/lua-l/ instead of #3.

Thanks,
-Archie

The sentence below is added by mailman. We have no control about it.
Sorry about that.
To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the lua-l
Archives. (The current archive is only available to the list members.)
